Calculator screenshot and download
This calculator was created after considerable greenhouse gas R&D. The calculator gives those interested in GHG-caused climate change the opportunity to get temperature change answers to changes in GHG levels and bypass the need for "experts" to provide the answers, answers which historically have been very inaccurate.
When you download and run this Excel-based tool, you will see tabs at the bottom that provide insight into things such as how the tool works, why the tool was developed, who may be interested in it, a user-guide, and support. We look forward to any feedback you have.

Usage scenarios: Several solved analysis are found in the Scenario Library. Download the calculator and you can solve your analysis questions too.
Breakthrough: You no longer need to ask climate change gurus for their temperature prognostications. Our calculator embeds the physics of GHGs with detailed absorption coefficient spectra so you can get the answers to any needed analysis without having to know the underlying physics. |
REQUIRED Excel Versions: The calculator is an Excel workbook with an iterative convergence algorithm and will only work in a fully-featured Personal or Business version of Excel installed on a desktop or laptop PC or Mac. The calculator provides an accurate tool to evaluate GHG heating. Be sure to read the Excel Macro settings below in order for the calculator to work.
The calculator will not work on simpler versions of Excel, including online Excel, cell phone Excel, and also will not work on other programs such as Google Sheets. |
Solving your first scenario analysis:
Follow these simple steps:
- Download the Climate Bell calculator onto your PC or Mac
- Follow the steps in the "Excel Macro Security Settings" below (written for PC)
- Go to the "READ FIRST" tab on the calculator and confirm the checks found in "Quick verification of your Excel version"
- Press the "Reset All" button (a good practice so you don't forget a parameter you may have changed in a previous scenario)
- Create an analysis scenario - press the "Year 2023" button for Level A and press the "Year 2075" button for Level B
- Press the "Run" button; in a matter of seconds the calculator will solve the analysis scenario and give you 0.21 degrees Celsius
- The "GUIDE" tab explains what all the input fields, buttons, and check boxes do
- Congratulations - you just solved your first scenario!
- Try out other scenarios of your own using the yellow boxes and check boxes. It is a good idea to press "Reset All" button first before entering a scenario to ensure no fields are forgotten about when you changed them from previous scenarios you solved.
- The "Copy To Clipboard" button feature provides free images with no approval needed to use and no need to provide additional attribution as they are self attributing (fulfilling the BY). Images are NOT permitted to be changed. Images are CC-BY-ND licensed.
The essay contains several scenarios so you don't need to download and run the calculator unless you really want to. If you want to perform analysis with the calculator, see the security settings instructions for your Excel program below.

Excel Macro Security Settings (written for a PC):
- Ideally you should obtain this file from our website to get the latest version and reduce your risk of a macro virus. This is a good precaution but in theory still isn't 100% secure as it is possible our ISP gets an infection, however unlikely that is.
- When you download the Climate Bell Calculator on a PC, you may need to right click on it and in Properties, at the bottom where it says Security, check the box Unblock. If you don't see that box, there is no need to do this.
- To run you will also need to set Enable VBA macros in your Excel's Options | Trust Center | Trust Center Settings | Macro Settings. You may then need to close Excel and reopen it.
- If you have any concerns over macro security, do this on a computer where you aren't worried about macro security.
- After using this calculator, be sure to return your Excel Trust Center macro setting to Disable VBA macros with notification.
- Climate Bell assumes no responsibility for your macro security, and if an issue arises, the responsibility is entirely yours.
To improve fit on your screen, go to Excel's View and uncheck the three boxes of Gridlines, Formula Bar, and Headings.
